Once Upon A Time...

Bonjour, readers! Have you missed me? School started August 12 for me, so I've been busy. That's why I'm behind with my posting. Anyways, here's a post I made a few weeks ago. Thanks to Doll Diaries for your amazing inspiration.

One day, my dolls were bored, so they went to see what was on the computer.

And it was Doll Diaries, as it so often is!

Rebecca was in charge of the mouse, so she clicked on the Princess and the Pea post. The girls figured out that it was Fairytale week at Camp Doll Diaries.

"We should pretend that we are princesses too!" exclaimed Rebecca.

So the girls got to work putting together outfits and grabbing hair accessories.

The girls had a fashion show when they were finished. See if you can fill in the blanks to figure which princess each girl is. They are all Disney Princesses.

Princess ______ has gone to town to get another book. She loves to read, but she is bored with her life.

Princess ________ is also bored with her life. Who would have guessed that a rug would help her find her prince?

Wow! Princess ______ is tired of her life too! She doesn't know much about how to use a fork, or a dinglehopper, does she?

Princess _______ doesn't want to get married. She wants to keep practicing her archery.

So, who is who? I hope you had fun reading this and are inspired to play with your dolls today! Mahalo! :Doll Whiz

Petite Boutique

Hey, readers! I recently received the Doll Boutique book from American Girl. I have "set up shop" and wanted to share this photo story with you! Happy reading!

Kanali has set up a new store called Petite Boutique. She is putting the final touches on the dress rack before opening.

"I guess it's time to flip my sign," said Kanali to herself.

As soon as the sign was flipped, Rebecca and Samantha walked into the boutique.

"Oh, look at the hats, Samantha!" exclaimed Rebecca. But Samantha was paying more attention to the purses.

"Oh, Becca, come look at the dresses!" Samantha called.

"Oh, I just have to have this beautiful blue one," sighed Samantha.

"You can go try it on in the dressing room if you like," said Kanali.

 So that's what Samantha did.

Meanwhile, Rebecca had gone over to the dress rack and found a beautiful pink dress with flowers on it.

Rebecca sat in the chair next to the dressing room to wait on Samantha to change into her dress.

"Tada!" exclaimed Samantha as she burst out of the dressing room.

 "It looks amazing!" exclaimed Rebecca.

"Now all I need are some shoes to match," said Samantha.

Samantha wandered over to the shoe display.

 "These are perfect!" she exclaimed.

Rebecca then went to change and came out with her beautiful dress on.

"These shoes will go perfectly with my outfit," said Rebecca.

"Hey, Sam, we should each get a purse, too!" exclaimed Rebecca.

So by the time the girls got to the checkout, the each had a dress, a pair of shoes, and a purse. They decided to go out to lunch in their new outfits.

After the girls paid, Kanali handed each of them a business card.

As Samantha and Rebecca left, they called out, "Goodbye!"

 "Goodbye!" Kanali replied.

I hope you enjoyed your trip to Petite Boutique! Come back soon, and tell your friends! :)

Pretty much all of the decorations are from the book, Doll Boutique. If you have any questions about this post, just comment and I can tell you where something was from, how I made it, etc. But keep your eyes peeled for a behind the scenes post on the Doll Boutique! So long for the present, :Doll Whiz

P.S. Here's a little blooper from the photo story.

 :D :D :D :D :D

P.S.S. The answer to Guess! Where's the Microscope? is... Rebecca!

Camp Doll Whiz: Let's Hike!

Hey, readers! Hope you are having a great day! Have you made hiking backpacks yet? (Click the link here to see how to make one if you haven't already.) If you have, then it is time to go hiking!

Camp Counselor Nellie is going to let Cabin Sunbeam get some fresh air. Let's see what they will do!

Before the girls head out, Nellie gives them the rundown.

Nellie says, "Don't touch any plants. They could be poisonous. Stay on the trail and stay in single file. I am always at the front, so I can't see you in the back. Behave yourselves. Don't litter and leave the animals alone. But remember," says Nellie as her voice softens from sounding like a drill sergeant, "you're here to have fun. Enjoy the beautiful nature. Now let's head out!"

A little ways down the path, the girls stop to stare in awe at the huge tree in front of them.

"Look! A beautiful bird!" shouts Samantha.

Nellie gives Rebecca the bird guidebook to see if she can find the name of the bird while Kanali and Samantha watch the bird fly.

"I can't find it!" says Rebecca frantically as she flips through the pages.

"Relax," says Nellie. "I'm sure that we will have lots of other opportunities to look at birds today."

After a while the girls sit down to take a break. Nellie hands Kanali the sunscreen.

Meanwhile, Rebecca and Samantha pull the snacks out.

Once the sunscreen and snacks have gone around, the girls sit and enjoy the nature.

Their silence is broken when the bird is spotted again. Kanali asks for the camera and then takes a picture.

Soon the girls head back to their cabin. They need to rest before their next activities!

Well, the girls had a fun time hiking! (That last picture looks like a cha-cha line, doesn't it? :D) I hope you are enjoying Camp Doll Whiz! Keep on reading, readers! :Doll Whiz

Camp Doll Whiz: Time for Lunch!

Hello, readers! I hope your dolls are having fun at camp! But by now, do you think that they are hungry? Probably! So, we are going to make them some food!

Today's lunch is not really considered "camp food", and it is all food that I have made in the past. But, I hope you enjoy looking at the ways to make these foods!

Rebecca gets in the line at the cafeteria cabin. Chef Mollie will serve her.

Here is a closer look at Rebecca's tray. It started out as a piece of cardboard. Then, I put construction paper on the front of the tray. Hold the paper down with duct tape and voila! A tray! I left the back plain (no construction paper.) The plate is from the Our Generation Baking Set, and the silverware is from the Our Generation R.V. Seeing You Camper Accessories.

Take a look at what's for lunch!

Here's some grapes, blueberries, and raspberries. The grapes and blueberries are blue and purple beads. The raspberries are made by stringing 5 pinkish-red beads onto a small bracelet cord (any string will work though) and tying the ends into a knot. The beads will become a circle. Arrange the beads so that one bead is at the bottom and there are two on either side (see picture). And there are your raspberries!

Make your dolls some punch! Tear up some tissue paper and stuff it into a doll sized pitcher. The cups and pitcher are from the Our Generation Baking Set.

Present some pizza by cutting a circle out of tan construction paper. Cut a red construction paper circle or two and glue that on top of your tan circle for sauce. Then glue on some strips of yellow construction paper for cheese. Add any additional toppings you want!

Serve some pasta by cutting long pieces of white yarn and curling them up on a plate.

Oooh, dessert! All of these items (the tiered display included) are either from the Our Generation Baking Set or the Our Generation R.V. Seeing You Camper Accessories Set.

"Boy, am I glad that I don't have to eat mystery meat! Isn't that what they usually serve at cafeterias?" said Rebecca as she got some pasta.

So, make some lunch for your dolls! Use your imagination! Some of these foods were inspired by the American Girl craft book "Doll Dining". See you later! :Doll Whiz

P.S. Don't forget to vote at the poll!

Camp Doll Whiz: Make Camp Name Tags

Hello, readers! I hope you enjoyed the camp check-in photo story that I made (click here if you haven't read it yet). Today we're going to go back to camp. But this time, you get to make a craft! With inspiration from Doll Diaries, I present this photo story/craft!

Early this morning, Consuelo woke up stressed. Why? She forgot to make the staff name tags! Consuelo was, after all, the arts and crafts director.

So, Consuelo quickly got dressed and headed over to the Arts and Crafts cabin. Then, she pulled out all of her supplies. These included:

  • Ribbon
  • Paper (it can be scratch paper)
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape
  • Markers, pencils, crayons, or whatever you want to use to draw

Step 1: Cut out some rectangles from your paper for however many dolls you need. Consuelo had to make one for Mollie, one for Bethany, one for Nellie, and one for herself, so that meant that she needed four rectangles.

Step 2: Decorate the paper with a name, position, and some drawings like Consuelo did.

Step 3: Cover the paper with clear tape.

Step 4: Put the ribbon around the doll's neck to measure the length. Keep in mind that it needs to be large enough to be able to slip over the doll's head.

Step 5: Use some more tape to attach the ribbon to the name tag.

Step 6: Put it on your doll!

Then Consuelo had to make three more for the rest of the staff and place them at everyone's doorway so that she wouldn't wake the sleeping dolls.

Consuelo went back to the Arts and Crafts room to see what else she could do since she was up.

But, she didn't get very far! She fell asleep on the desk!

So, I hope you had fun making these name tags and reading this photo story! If you want to see how Doll Diaries did theirs, click here. Keep watching for more of Camp Doll Whiz! Later! :Doll Whiz
