Doll Finds

Hello, readers! Here are some doll finds which came from various places, like Sabbath School, teddy bears, and other spots in between! Here you go!

Some of these finds are fairly new, some are old. An example of one of the newer finds would be these doll sized scissors. They are from mini sewing kits found at a hotel. Thanks, Nana!

These sewing needles make great knitting needles for Consuelo. There was one needle in each sewing kit, making a perfect pair. Consuelo's dress is from a teddy bear. The dress is a little short on Consuelo, but it works!

Here is a doll-sized lunch box that my dad found a while back in our Sabbath School room. If you can see the writing on the box, it says that "Atomic Fireball" is a candy, so this probably stored the candy.

P.S. I couldn't get Rebecca to hold the lunchbox without using elastics :(

Well, I guess the girls decided that it's time to go shopping! Consuelo got dressed into a fancy gown that is meant for a soft bodied, soft legged doll. (I can put up pictures of her later if you want.) And the bags that the girls are holding are from Brighton. They work great!

 Close up of the bags.

Looks like Rebecca got baby duty! I won this little girl at the dart throw (or whatever you call that) at my school's fall fair.

A closer look at her sweet face. I still haven't named her yet. Any ideas?

So, keep your eyes peeled for doll finds wherever you go! I saw a mini fishing and a mini colander at Tom Thumb. You never know what you'll find! Have a great day! :Doll Whiz

P.S. Our models today were Consuelo and Rebecca (and baby).

Doll Boutique: Behind the Scenes

Hey, readers! Have you read my Petite Boutique post? If you haven't, here is the link: http://dollwhiz.blogspot.com/2013/07/petite-boutique.html. If you have, here is a behind the scenes look at how it was all put together!

Most of the decorations in this photo story are from the American Girl book Doll Boutique. When I say "from the set", I mean that it is from Doll Boutique.

I mainly got this set for all of the decorations that it comes with. And that's a good reason to get the set, because you can see how many decorations it comes with!

Grand opening sign from the set. It is double sided to fit two different decorating styles. I personally went with the less bold style because I thought it was prettier.

The sign for the dressing room.

Mini American Girl shopping bags- how cute! I actually didn't use this in the photo story.

Sign for the Petite Boutique. See, this style is really pretty!

The open and closed sign which is essential for any store. It is has "open" on one side and "closed" on the other, so you have to use the fancier, prettier style for the sign anyway (the others have bold versions of the different signs on the back.)

One of the posters for the shop. It is actually a black and white photo from the American Girl magazine.

Gift cards from the set. My dad made the stand out of paper.

A little receipt pad that I just used for display in the photo story. The pencil is from Chrissa's Craft Studio.

This is an awesome computer that comes with the set. It is made of study material, and it has a very detailed keyboard. But you have to put it together.

In the drawer of the front desk (which is from Chrissa's Craft Studio), I put some dollar bills for change and some of the business cards included in the set.

One of the doll magazines you can make from the set. Just glue the designed paper to the cardboard included for your magazine. The kit has enough for 4 magazines. However, if you want the front to look like this, there will be a little space that is uncovered in the back because they did not make the paper long enough to cover the whole cardboard piece.

The blue cardboard piece in the picture above is actually included in the set so that you can make a table; you just need to put it on top of something like a cup. I put mine on top of a candle holder.

The dressing room! I made it using boxes. I used more boxes to hold up a blanket for a curtain. (Nobody actually went in there. :D )

This comfy chair is a mini Pillow Pet.

The kit gives you this purple cardboard piece to make a dress rack. You are supposed to mount the rack to your tri-fold using glue, but I used ribbon and a lot of tape to hold up mine. Then I put a little piece of tape behind the rack so it would stay in place. Next, I slid a skewer in the holes and hung up some dresses. Voila!

I wasn't kidding when I said I used a lot of tape! My dad did all of this taping on the back for me. He even used a few skewers. This is on the back of my homemade tri-fold.

And, I used American Girl boxes for the displays.

So, I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look at the Doll Boutique post! If you want me to give you some more behind the scenes information on any post, just let me know in the comments. じゃあ、また!(That's "See you later!" in Japanese!) :Doll Whiz

P.S. I do not work with American Girl in any way, and all opinions are my own.

Petite Boutique

Hey, readers! I recently received the Doll Boutique book from American Girl. I have "set up shop" and wanted to share this photo story with you! Happy reading!

Kanali has set up a new store called Petite Boutique. She is putting the final touches on the dress rack before opening.

"I guess it's time to flip my sign," said Kanali to herself.

As soon as the sign was flipped, Rebecca and Samantha walked into the boutique.

"Oh, look at the hats, Samantha!" exclaimed Rebecca. But Samantha was paying more attention to the purses.

"Oh, Becca, come look at the dresses!" Samantha called.

"Oh, I just have to have this beautiful blue one," sighed Samantha.

"You can go try it on in the dressing room if you like," said Kanali.

 So that's what Samantha did.

Meanwhile, Rebecca had gone over to the dress rack and found a beautiful pink dress with flowers on it.

Rebecca sat in the chair next to the dressing room to wait on Samantha to change into her dress.

"Tada!" exclaimed Samantha as she burst out of the dressing room.

 "It looks amazing!" exclaimed Rebecca.

"Now all I need are some shoes to match," said Samantha.

Samantha wandered over to the shoe display.

 "These are perfect!" she exclaimed.

Rebecca then went to change and came out with her beautiful dress on.

"These shoes will go perfectly with my outfit," said Rebecca.

"Hey, Sam, we should each get a purse, too!" exclaimed Rebecca.

So by the time the girls got to the checkout, the each had a dress, a pair of shoes, and a purse. They decided to go out to lunch in their new outfits.

After the girls paid, Kanali handed each of them a business card.

As Samantha and Rebecca left, they called out, "Goodbye!"

 "Goodbye!" Kanali replied.

I hope you enjoyed your trip to Petite Boutique! Come back soon, and tell your friends! :)

Pretty much all of the decorations are from the book, Doll Boutique. If you have any questions about this post, just comment and I can tell you where something was from, how I made it, etc. But keep your eyes peeled for a behind the scenes post on the Doll Boutique! So long for the present, :Doll Whiz

P.S. Here's a little blooper from the photo story.

 :D :D :D :D :D

P.S.S. The answer to Guess! Where's the Microscope? is... Rebecca!

Dolls in the Human World: The iPod

Hey, readers! Loooong time no see! I've been very busy lately. What have you been up to? Well, today is July 4, the "birthday" of our nation! Yet this post has nothing to do with red, white, and blue or a summer cookout.

This post, I believe, is the start of a new series here at Doll Whiz. It is called "Dolls in the Human World". Hence the title, these posts will be about the adventures of the dolls exploring human things. Check out this first one, "The iPod"!

Nellie and Rebecca decided to go exploring. They went into the office, hoping to explore the desk. Luckily, the girls saw the chair and decided that they could help each other up it to see the top of the desk.

"Wow!" said Nellie. "Look at the size of that computer!"

"Humans have it good!" said Rebecca.

 "Hey! What's that?" said Nellie.

"Oh, I know what THAT is," said Katie, who had appeared out of nowhere.

"It's an iPog, said Katie.

"What's an iPog?" asked Nellie.

"AUGGHH! You guys don't know anything about electronics!" exclaimed Katie in frustration.

"An iPog is only the coolest thing ever! You can listen to music on it, and play games, and go on the Internet!" said Katie.

"Can you turn it on?" asked Rebecca.

"Of course I can!" said Katie. "All you have to do is press this pink button."

"Tada!" exclaimed Katie.

 "Oooh..." said the girls together.

"Now we just slide this thingy here..." said Katie.

"...and... Rats! It's locked!" exclaimed Katie. "We need a passcode!"

"How about the letter B, guys? Do you think the humans would make their passcode the letter B?" asked Katie.

"I don't know," said Nellie and Rebecca at the same time.

So Katie tried the letter B. And it didn't work.

 "This is hopeless," said Nellie.

"No, it isn't!" exclaimed Katie, starting to lose her temper. She stomped her foot on the iPog.

When Katie stomped her foot on the iPog, she punched in some random letters. "Let's try it," said Katie. So she hit the "OK" button.

"It's not going to work," said Rebecca.

Yet somehow it did work!

"Oh, this is way cool!" said Katie. "There's a calculator and the weather and even a camera! But where are the games?"

Katie swiped to the next page. "Oh, look, guys! Here's some American girl games!"

"This is awesome!" exclaimed Katie. "I am so taking it with me!" And with that, Katie climbed back down the chair.

"Well," said Rebecca after a long pause, "I guess we should head back to the bedroom since Katie took the iPog."

 "Yeah," Nellie agreed.

So Rebecca started to climb back down the chair while Nellie took one last look at the desk top.

As the girls got back to the bedroom, they ran into Kanali.

 "Hey guys!" said Kanali.

 "Hey," said Nellie.

"You're never going to guess what we just did!" exclaimed Rebecca.

And so the girls told Kanali all about their adventure.

So, I hope you enjoyed this photo story! As I said, I think that I am going to make this into a series, so keep an eye out for more! Happy 4th! :Doll Whiz
